Heat-inactivated and Gamma-irradiated FBS
(USDA Approved)
Catalog Number: FBS7012-HI/GI
Heat inactivation is a process that involves heating serum to 56°C for 30 minutes to eliminate complements and contaminants that could interfere with experimental results.
GMP Bioscience serum is gamma irradiated via controlled exposure to Cobalt 60 at an industry standard dose of 25-40kGy. Most typical viral contaminants of bovine serum are readily inactivated at this irradiation range.
Our Heat-Inactivated and Gamma-Irradiated FBS features:
- Low endotoxin and hemoglobin levels
- Endotoxin levels >25 EU/Ml (LAL)
- Average hemoglobin level*: < 15 mg/dL (specification = < 30 mg/dL)
- Free of viruses and mycoplasma
- pH: 7-7.4
- Osmolality: 290-310
- Shelf life: 5 years from the date of manufacturing
- Mycoplasma: Not detected (9CFR 113.28)
- Viruses: Not detected
- Bacteria and fungi: Note detected
- Total protein: 3-4 g/dL
